PATIENT SAFETY

Your safety is always foremost by the Staff at Newport Beach Surgery Center. To ensure that we, the Staff, are keeping patient safety as primary, each patient will join us in ensuring that the procedure to be performed is correctly identified as well as sited.

To accomplish this we have implemented a “Patient Identification and Site Verification Checklist” in which you, the patient, will accompany us in completing. This form asks you to identify yourself and the procedure that you are about to undergo. In addition, you will identify the location on your body using a stick figure where the procedure is to be performed.

To ensure that you as well as the staff understand what the procedure is as well as the site, starting from the Receptionist to the Pre-operative area to the Operating Room or Procedure Room onto the Recovery Area the Staff will ask you the procedure and site. This may seem very redundant and/or somewhat annoying BUT this ongoing patient safety procedure is for YOUR safety and our commitment to your safety.

To learn more about your safety we invite you to use the following link to the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc. for which Newport Beach Surgery Center is accredited by. Click on the link entitled “For Consumers” at the bottom..
